Research interests
I lead the computational engineering activity at Daresbury Laboratory. Since 1990, I have worked developing efficient parallel engineering applications in close collaboration with UK universities. I have worked in the field of computational fluid dynamics for over 15 years, and recently my research has focused on fluid flows in micron-scale devices.
My recent work has focussed on low Reynolds number hydrodynamics and the numerical modelling of non-continuum (rarefied) gas flows in microfluidic devices, micro-reactors and rapid mixing devices for high-throuput life-science applications, air-segmented and capillary-driven fluid handling systems and electroosmotic-electrophoretic separation devices
