Find a host institution

The SCAT project for Scientific Computing Advanced Training offered mobility grants at the MSc or PhD level, and also for post-doctoral fellows. The grants were intended for students registered at, or post-docs affiliated to, one partner institution, to spend an extended period of study and research at another partner institution.

In the duration of the SCAT project (Nov. 2005 to July 2009), more than 2 dozen grants have been awarded, most for Latin American students to come to Europe, and some for European students to go to Latin America

Note on eligibility: To be eligible, an applicant must be affiliated to one of the partner institutions, or have graduated from a partner institution.

The grants cover travel costs, a monthly stipend, and languange improvement. The duration of the mobility may depend on the research project, but the average stay is 8 months in the host institution.

  4. Get in contact with the interlocutor for SCAT in your home institution
  5. Discuss a research project with your local SCAT members
  6. Choose a host institution, and research project
  7. Prepare your application, according to the Guidelines.

Where are the mobilities to?

The mobility grants are between partner higher education institutions in Latin America and Europe. To apply for a grant, you must be affiliated with a partner institution.

One of the SCAT partners is not a higher education institution. It is Daresbury Laboratory, in the U.K. This is a research laboratory, and its Computational Science and Engineering Department is a partner of SCAT. A small number of grants to Europe will allow for a stay at Daresbury, either exclusively or having as a main host another partner higher education institution in Europe.
